  • 24 Aug: nocturnal habit noted
  • 29 Aug: moved outdoors
  • 23 Sep: 32mm
  • 25 Sep: last recorded feed
  • 3 Oct: pupal cocoon in progress
  • 4 Oct: further strengthening of cocoon
  • late Oct: pupation
  • 20 May 2013: ecdysis and release in home garden, Springmartin

40 Barred Fruit-tree Tortrix ~ Pandemis cerasana

A larva on hawthorn in Glencairn Park was collected; it pupated, emerged on 10 Jun, and was released.


Project 40B/41A (May 2013 - Jun 2013)

A larva having fallen off ash in Glencairn Park was collected, had pupated as of 10 Jun, emerged 15 Jun and was released.


42 Cabbage Moth ~ Mamestra brassicae

Project 42A (Jun 2013)

139 white eggs laid by a female (captured from my home garden) all developed patterning and eventually all hatched. They were released in Glencairn Park two days later.


43 Small Phoenix ~ Ecliptopera silaceata

Project 43A (Jun 2013 - )

3 of 5 cream-coloured eggs laid by a captured female turned a terracotta colour after a day or so, indicating they were fertilised. They hatched on 15 Jun.
